Another National event and another Beagles medal – a bronze, is the highlight of this week but it’s a week that has also seen great individual successes and a brilliant Beagles turnout at the first round of the Sportshall events.

English National Road Relays

The U15 boys and girls teams had a great day on Saturday in Birmingham at the English National Road Relay Championships. Both teams ran 3 legs of 3.88km against over 130 other teams from across England.

First up were the boys with Jude Hearn leading the way, positioning himself brilliantly on the start line before being knocked over and trampled ending up right at the back of the field but recovering like a pro to run 13.20. Next up Zac Thomas ran a strong leg to pick up places and close the gap, firmly placing the team in the top of the field with his leg of 13.27. Finally Mattie Delea consolidated the team result running strongly throughout to bring them home to finish 29th (13:55). This is a fantastic result for our boys team and a great testament to their training ethic and teamwork.

Having seen Jude’s start, Evie Warn has to take great credit for still going out and attacking the start of her race with absolute rage! Once again giving her all and demonstrating her strength nationally, Evie finished her leg in second place (13:53). Handing over to Missy Tiller who also pushed herself to her limits and kept the team with the front runners, Missy handed over with the team in 5th (14:38). Olivia Forrest quickly set off in pursuit of the leaders and overtook two runners around the half way point pushing forwards to create a gap and finishing with the front two teams in sight (13:10). Finishing third nationally is a sensational result for the girls and so well deserved!

Definitely a day where we are incredibly proud of all who represented the club!

Tiptree 10

Congratulations to Stuart Crowther who took on one of the favourite races of local runners – the Tiptree 10. Described as a predominately flat and scenic course with a couple of hills, it’s one of the few opportunities locally to run a 10 mile race. Stuart had a great run finishing inside the top 100 and 9th in his age group with a time of 1.12.56. Well done!

Royal Parks Half

Scott Brooks had a brilliant run through London on Sunday at the Royal Parks Half event. With 16000 runners taking part, Scott finished a magnificent 144th and as 76th man in a time of 1:24.23. Brilliant running Scott!

School Running

We are thrilled to hear of the great running this week by Emily Brewington

who finished third at the Enfield Schools year 5&6 cross country championships held at Forty Hall. Particularly impressive given she is in year 5 and will have another run at the title next year.

Parkrun and Junior parkun round up

An unseasonably warm and calm October Saturday encouraged a number of Beagles out to a few of our faster local courses in pursuit of PBs.

At Valentines, the club dominated the top 10 finishers with all 5 of our runners performing well. Max Sanderson (17:02 PB) ‘enjoyed’ a Happy Birthday sung by the entire 300 runners in attendance, and then came 1st, completing the 5k in an all-time PB. In close attendance coming 2nd was Dean Savery (17:19 PB), also comfortably securing his fastest ever Parkrun. Louis King (18:32) ran well to finish 4th, closely followed to the line by Elliot Worth (18:34) in 5thLouis Geater (19:59) brought the Beagles home in 9th, a strong finish just getting him under the 20-minute mark.

Over at Chelmsford, Madison Kindler (18:53 PB) once again broke the record books, this time taking the JW10 record that had stood for nearly 7 years. An age grade of 90.38% was the 3rd highest ever at Chelmsford, amazing running! Daniel Smith (22:56) and Laura Durn (22:57) were also in attendance running strongly to finish just outside the top 100 from nearly 750 runners.

At Raphael’s, Jemimah Knightbridge (20:02)ran well to finish in the top 10 while sticking to the hills at Brentwood were 4 of our runners, lead in by Daniel Jaycock (19:46) in 3rdOllie Johnson (21:37 PB) in 11thRobert Barke (22:50) finishing first JM10 and taking 17th and Oliver Jones (35:04 PB).

Our lone runner at Wickford Memorial was Scott Brooks (24:12), taking it easy ahead of his Royal Parks ½ marathon.

On Sunday, our Beagles were out in force at the local Junior Parkrun events. First off at Harrow Lodge, Olivia Forrest (06:34) led in the first 4 runners, all from the club. Madison Kindler (07:05)celebratingher 100th run,was 2nd, just outside her PB while Isabel Forrest (07:32) came 3rd, just a few seconds ahead of Hollie Poyton (07:41 PB). Hollie has now PB’d in her last 7 consecutive Junior Parkruns! There were more Beagles to come with Oliver Trevor (08:50) in 7th, and Oliver Kindler (09:07) finishing 10th

At Lake Meadows, Frankie Edwards (07:26) took on the course for the first time and ran well to finish 2nd, not far behind were Lianne Esterhuysen (08:06) and Sophie Bickerstaff (08:22).

Finally, over at Hutton Rec, the Beagle runners dominated taking 6 of the first 8 places. Leading in a 1-2-3 was Daniel Smith (08:21), just holding off fast-finishing Jamie Murphy (08:22 PB) with Dylan Hussain (08:34 PB) not far behind. First female was Nora Heidemans (09:14) while Jessica Thomson (09:28 PB) ran strongly from start to finish to pick up her fastest ever effort over 2km, well done!  Rafe Matthews (9:38) finished eighth, Chloe Thomson (9:46) and Imogen Warn (10:33) both enjoyed their first run over the course. Also taking part were Liam Worth (10:43), Joshua Barke (11:19), Lucy Reynolds (11:2), Joshua Thomson who gained a new PB (11:20), Camilla Nash (11:33) and Bailee Abrahams (11:38). All enjoyed the sunny conditions!
