Established and affiliated to England Athletics in 2022, Brentwood Beagles represents a collaboration between Brentwood School and a team of coaches and parents passionate about building an inclusive athletics club for all.  With a focus on both participation for fitness and recreation or in support of other sports and a Performance Academy for those who wish to compete, the club intends to provide a great place to train and excel whether a novice athlete or an experienced, elite sportsperson.

The club has a comprehensive and capable committee in place with the ongoing ambition of providing athletics to the Brentwood community.  We will have regular committee meetings to ensure that a light touch, politics free governance structure is in place to support our goals.

Being based at Brentwood School affords us access to exceptional track and field facilities supporting sports, hurdles, endurance, throws and both horizontal and vertical jumps.  Please note, we do not have Pole Vault provision at Brentwood, but we do run specialist camps on this and other athletics specialisms on an ad hoc basis.

We have partnered with Lee Middleton.  Lee is an exceptionally experienced and qualified Sports Therapist to support our endeavours.  We have also partnered with US Sports Scholarships to help track and field athletes access scholarships and grant funding to attend University in the USA.  Such scholarships are part or fully funded by the Institutions themselves.  US Sports scholarships will support up to 25 athletes in each discipline per year to access such support.

In addition, we have partnered with RaceUltras Coaching to provide lactate testing, their hugely successful marathon training plans and certified IRONMAN training for athletes interested in endurance events at Marathon distances and above.

The club has a comprehensive statement of intent which can be summarised as providing high quality facilities and coaching to support the goals of both recreational and competitive athletes alike.  The club will focus on:

  • Recruiting athletes from age 7 through to masters aged athletes in all age groups.
  • Deliver track based training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (18:30) and ad hoc event group training for members only at other times (contact us if you are seeking a taster session).
  • Provide off-track and road running group support for members wishing to enhance their training on trails or more generally in support of road racing.
  • We have a Couch to 5k group and thriving Marathon and Ultra Running Groups with ability ranging from beginner to elite athlete.
