A short news update this week but an impressive one! With another set of stellar performances at the Liverpool Cross Challenge event once again showcasing our club at national level. Well done too to everyone who managed a parkrun / junior parkrun this week – we are so impressed to see everyone building their stamina and getting a good run in.

Liverpool Cross Challenge

A cold, autumnal, muddy day in Liverpool today for the second round of the British Athletics cross challenge event saw another set of brilliant Beagles performances.

First up Ollie Trevor in the U11 boys race demonstrating amazing tenacity to get back up and run after a fall in the starting melee. A good run throughout to finish 87th in 8:18.

Madison Kindler was once again dominant in her U11 girls race. Attacking hard from the start and maintaining a good gap to the group throughout finishing first in 6:51.

In the U15 girls race, a strong start list saw a tactical first part of the race as the field sorted themselves out. Olivia Forrest once again ran with maturity to seize her moment and pull out a lead running finishing very clear of the field in 10:18. Isabel Forrest, tested her ankle following the Eastern’s, and once again showed resilience to finish 100th in 13:15.

Well done to all four runners – amazing to be able to demonstrate Beagles brilliance on a national scale again.

Parkrun and Junior parkun round up

A very cold weekend for Parkrun with frosty starts on both Saturday & Sunday. Despite this, we had plenty of Beagle runners for both the 5k & 2k distances.

At Raphael, Evie Warn (19:09 PB)picked up a new fastest time finishing 2nd female and 8th overall. Just 3 places further back in 11th was Ollie Johnson (19:32), taking part in the event for the first time. Also running well were Daniel Smith (22:16) and Laura Durn (22:19 PB). Over at Billericay, Elliot Worth (19:35) and Sophie Bickerstaff (22:24) were representing the club as were Phil Price (17:54 PB) and Dylan Hussain (23:06) at Chelmsford.

A strong showing at Brentwood where Jude Hearn (18:50 PB) impressed greatly in taking 1st place, finishing 15 seconds ahead of the all-time female course record holder (Lauren Deadman). His time was the 2nd fastest ever in the JM11-14 category! Also performing superbly was Missy Tiller (20:44 PB), securing her fastest time and moving into 7th overall in the JW11-14 category. Max Massarella (23:25), Scarlett Hawkins (29:11) and Lola Massarella (29:28 PB) also had great runs over the challenging course.

Max Sanderson (17:40)paid a maiden visit to the notoriously quick Victoria Dock event, and capped off his appearance with a fine 1st place, while there was another fast performance at Wickford by Scott Brooks (18:02 PB), finishing 3rd.

On Sunday, we had 3 Beagles at Lake Meadows. Despite an early slip on the frost covered grass, Sophie Bickerstaff (08:12) recovered well to finish 2nd overall and just 1 second outside her PB. Dylan Hussain (08:59)ran strongly from the off to finish 5th while Liam Worth (10:03) put in a strong late charge to take 16th place.

The biggest turnout of runners was to be found at Hutton Rec as the Beagles were in dominant form. There was a thrilling tussle at the front with Ollie Johnson (07:29) finishing 1st at his first effort on the course, just pipping Frankie Edwards (07:29) into 2nd with a late sprint. There then followed a procession of blues & reds as Daniel Smith (08:25) took 3rdJamie Murphy (08:26) 4thNora Heidemans (10:13) 6thJessica Thomson* (10:18) 7thMax Morris* (10:20 PB) 8th, Chloe Thomson* (10:55) 10thJoshua Thomson* (12:00) 14th, Camilla Nash* (12:36) 16th and Bailee Abrahams* (13:18) 20th.

Finally, at Harrow Lodge, Ollie Trevor (08:27), ran well to finish 2nd, with Blossom Smith close behind in 4th (8:46) and Emily Brewington (09:14) in 6thEzra-Zion Gooch (10:21) and Freya Brewington (12:03) also put in good performances.

Well done to all our runners this weekend. Note for parents, if your child has an * by their name, please help our editors by adding Brentwood Beagles as their club under their parkrun profile (groups). Feel free to contact us if you need help setting this up.
