We hope everyone had a lovely time over the Easter bank holiday! For some of our runners it was business as usual with a great turnout at the Good Friday Crown to Crown. Well done too to all our primary school runners that qualified for the Essex XC final – some great results there too.

Crown to Crown

It was a “good” Friday for our Endurance runners who headed to Westley Heights to take part in the @pitsearc Crown to Crown 5K event. One of our favourite but most challenging runs! Course conditions today were muddy but our runners did brilliantly taking 9 of the first 15 finish positions!

Taking 3rd place overall and 1st U18 male was Max Sanderson with a new course PB of 17:32. Following close behind was Preston Taylor in 4th (17:39 – debut) and Dean Savery in 5th (18:18 – course PB). Overall first female finisher was Olivia Forrest who was also 7th overall (18:46). Jude Hearn finished in 8th (18:56 – debut) with Robin Smith 10th (19:01 – course PB)

Running close together, and all making their course debuts, were Reggie Edwards 12th (19:25), Orly Morton 13th (19:41) and Louis King 14th (19:49). Slightly further back, Ollie Johnson also had a great run in 20th (20:22 – course PB) as did Isabel Forrest (21:00 – course PB) in 25th.

Frankie Edwards held off Laura Durn finishing 36th and 37th respectively (22:09, 22:20). And Sophie Bickerstaff got the better of Stuart Crowther in 43rd and 44th (22:38, 22:45). Esme Thomas ran well to finish 47th (23:03). And Aisling O’Leary made a strong debut in 75th (25:07). Daniel Smith was our final Beagles finisher with a nice run to finish 87th (26:17).

Special thanks for the finishing hill shots by Laurence Sanderson.
