It’s been an incredibly busy May with some massive events that have seen great performances by so many members of the club. The best thing has been the team spirit at these events – it’s so lovely to see the sea of blue and red and the support the athletes have for each other and bring with them wherever they go… it’s definitely worth a few extra cm’s in a jump or throw or a second or two in a run!

Jack Petchey Winners

Huge congratulations to our latest Jack Petchey Foundation award winners.

Multi events – Oliver Nevill – Has really impressed his team mates and coaches with his resilience in his key events. Disappointment in his own performance at a long jump competition, has seen him seek out extra coaching and support which in turn has led to more confidence and solid jumping. He has also shown tenacity and commitment to his hurdling and really listens to the coaching advice he is given.

Endurance – Isabel Forrest – Isabel received a wide range of nominations from her peers who all cited her supportive behaviour and great teamwork. As an example – “Isabel has been helpful to me giving me advice on stretching. She has also been supportive after races with encouraging comments when she could see I was upset. She always cheers on all the Beagles and has made me feel very welcome at the club.”

Sprints – Max Cheetham – Whilst it is undeniable that Max has had massive performance success over the last few months, he has been nominated for this award for his support and encouragement to his team mates who have really appreciated his kind words and friendly advice. His coaches have also noted Max’s desire to develop and he really takes on board their advice by actively listening and responding to feedback.

Voting for our June awards is now open – you will have been emailed a form if eligible!

Well done to all our representatives at parkrun. Can we please remind you that we can only pick up your results in the parkun club report if you register yourself as being part of the club in your parkrun profile. Unfortunately, the automatic club report only works on the Saturday parkruns so we are unable to spot performances at junior parkruns beyond the local ones we monitor (Harrow Lodge, Hutton Rec., Chelmsford, Lake Meadows, Great Notley and Northlands). Feel free to contact us if you need help setting up your profile or if you want to tell us about your runs further afield.

Coming up
